Televisión de Galicia (TVG) hosts the 2013 CIRCOM Regional Annual Conference in Santiago de Compostela, a city that stands for a symbol of the European Union because of the long tradition of its Way and that is the capital of Galicia, a region with its own unique cultural identity.

"The way forward" is the theme of the Conference. The reference to the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage as a difficult way with a happy ending is appropriate to the great meeting of European regional television. The monumental city will host hundreds of delegates for interesting discussions on the future of professional television and how it can help to develop this XXI century society.

Televisión de Galicia belongs to CRTVG corporation, which was founded in 1985. The first company mission is to improve and normalise the use of Galician official language, Galego, and to foster its culture. Its budget is supported mainly by the autonomous Government of Galicia as well as by advertising.

TVG broadcasts 24 hours per day on two digital terrestrial channels and two satellite channels for America and Europe. The station reaches nearly 4 million people in the Northwest of Spain (covering Galicia and its surrounding territories) and North Portugal. The program guides include news, music shows, cultural programmes, kids and children, quiz shows, games shows, sitcoms, movies, debates and sports. From those, some 60% are in-house production.  

TVG technical means include 4 OB vans, 10 video post-production rooms and 4 studios as well as its own production network that has the best technical coverage in the region.

The three channels broadcast by Radio Galega offer information, music and special programming to let their listeners be the first to know. This radio broadcasts encourage the interaction with the audience through the most innovative information technologies. Radio Galega has a primary role in promoting Galician music. This also involves opening up the studios to produce music records and stage live concerts.

CRTVG is one of the founding members of FORTA, the Federation of Autonomous Broadcasting Companies in Spain, made up by 13 public service regional broadcasters.

According to Alfonso Sánchez Izquierdo, General Manager of CRTVG, the 2013 CIRCOM Regional Annual Conference is “a challenge that we accept with eager anticipation and which we hope will help us address the demands and meet the needs of the public broadcasting media that we represent”. He wishes also the meeting in Santiago de Compostela to offer appealing contents for the conference and to contribute to strengthening the ties among European regional television stations.
