Citizenship Co-production Project - round 6
(September 2018 - June 2019)
Fourteen TV stations, all CIRCOM members, took part in 6th edition of the Citizenship co-production project. Thanks to a grant from the European Parliament, they produced, in total editorial independence, 42 stories about European matters, giving a voice to the citizens of the continent.
Each of the 14 co-production members produced three stories locally and make them available to all other CIRCOM members to broadcast. The production started in September 2018 and lasted until June 2019.

The Citizenship project develops the inclusion of interviews and reports with Members of the European Parliament. MePs looked at the stories produced by members and answered the questions of citizens included in the stories. A website was created to showcase this specific part of the project: citizenship.circom-regional.eu
The sixth round of the project was kickstarted on October 10th, 2018 as members held their first editorial meeting in Brussels, during the European Week of Regions and Cities 2018.

The Citizenship project has been running successfully from 2013. Appart from the current round 6, there were 5 previous rounds of the project:
- Citizenship Project - round 5 (November 2017 – June 2018)
- Citizenship Project - round 4 (November 2016 – June 2017)
- Citizenship Project - round 3 (June 2015 - March 2016)
- Citizenship and Election Process (September - December 2014)
- Citizenship coproduction project (April 2013 - May 2014)
The entire collection of stories produced within the project is available to all CIRCOM Regional members, free of charge, in order to have a wide European broadcasting of the material. It is a fact that as Regional Public Service Broadcasters are defending freedom of speech, it gives them the credibility to broadcast this kind of stories as close as possible to the European citizens. The project shows a great commitment of Regional Public Media in the public debate about the future of the European citizens!
