eu open days 330

CIRCOM Regional starts a new round of work with the European Committee of the Regions.

The first joint action 2015 will take place at the occasion of the Open Days 2015 in Brussels. On behalf of CIRCOM, as well as of the European Committee of the Regions and the European Commission's Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy, we have the pleasure of inviting journalists of CIRCOM member stations to the OPEN DAYS 2015 - 13th European Week of Regions and Cities. This year’s event will take place from 12 to 15 October 2015 in Brussels, and will be attended by over 6,000 local, regional, national and European decision-makers from across the EU and beyond.

OPEN DAYS 2015 will be held under the slogan “Europe's regions and cities: Partners for investment and growth”, and will be structured around three thematic priorities:

1. “Modernising Europe”: The regions in the Energy Union and the Single Digital Market
2. “Regions open for business”: SME development, innovation and job creation
3. “Places and spaces”: Urban and rural development; urban-rural integration

Also new this year are the official RegioStars award ceremony on Tuesday 13 October, and OPEN Urban DAY including a guided tour for journalists to the main urban development areas in Brussels funded by EU cohesion policy.

Over the past ten years OPEN DAYS has become the largest and most influential event on regional and urban development in Europe where you can learn more about the priorities and challenges of the new phase of the European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF). It is a unique opportunity to exchange views on how to make the most of these European investments, particularly this year as the political faces of Europe will change and the European Union will renew its priorities.

With more than 100 workshops and about 200 regions and cities involved, OPEN DAYS 2015 is the one event connecting politicians, academics, experts and citizens at the heart of EU cohesion policy. This is your chance to come and ask:

• What are the main achievements of EU cohesion policy in my region?
• How can Europe’s regions contribute to smart, sustainable and inclusive growth supported by the newly reformed EU cohesion policy 2014-2020?

The European Committee of the Regions would be delighted to invite journalists of CIRCOM member stations to Brussels and offera special media programme.

A special joint meeting will be organized with the journalists of CIRCOM member stations, responsible of CIRCOM Regional and representatives of European Committee of the Regions to envisage together future possible joint actions. The meeting will take place on Tuesday 13 October from 11.30 to 12.30 in the CoR.
