FORTA - the Federation of Radio and Television Autonomic Organizations - issued following Press Release on Novemer 6th 2013:

The Federation of Radio and Television Autonomic Organizations, FORTA, after the announcement of closure of RTVV, states:

1. FORTA respects the sentence of the High Court of the Valencian Community, but we deeply regret its consequences, leading to the announcement of closure of Public Radio and Television adopted by the Autonomous Government of Valencia.

2 . Despite the difficulties being experienced by the entire public sector, the autonomic model of public radio and television is fully valid. Citizens seek to gain access to a local service where they are reflected with all their concerns, just as they are, in their language and customs - in short, a small own space against the massive global media pressure. This role is played by the model of public autonomic broadcasting, which has been developing for 30 years by the members of FORTA. That is why we claim the aim of serving citizens to be kept in every member of our Federation.

3. FORTA, in this difficult situation, is confident that the process which RTVV is currently involved in leads to a satisfactory solution, based on a sustainable model, able to keep its spirit submission as a public service.

4. This statement is signed by all autonomic broadcasters who are members of FORTA, except the Ente Público Radiotelevisión Autonomía Madrid.
