25/01/2013 - A rule of entry has been adjusted following pleas from broadcasters concerned about unlimited grant of rights of broadcast of winning entries. Instead of "unlimited" plays within a 24-hour window, it will now be one play and further plays only by bilateral agreement with the winning broadcaster. The rule was relaxed primarily for broadcasters with "plus one hour" services of the same channel being transmitted one hour later.
David Lowen, President of the Prix Circom, said:
"We want the best regional programmes to be seen by as many people as possible. But if the extended free rights prevent broadcasters entering programmes, it becomes self-defeating. This gets the balance right for all."
