Short Description

They are 100 years old - some are even older. They have lived through a century in Europe, and trough two turns of the century. Their face is the face of Europe, the face of progress, of change, of wars and of poverty. And yet they remain the face of someone who has stayed true themselves.

The face itself will run as an identifiable theme throughout the films over and above the familiar daily life, the scenery, the food. And a particular style of visual narrative will be developed. Because some of the faces are no longer able to express themselves very clearly and also they tire easily. The producers will make resumés of what the faces are expressing and thinking, and will then partly reproduce it, using a second voice. So the parts of the original interviews from the faces could be completed.

Format
20 episodes, 30 minutes duration each. One face from each of the 15 countries of the European Union + 5 from the new countries awaiting membership. The transmission started January 2000.
