Short Description
The project has been set up with the aim of co-producing a series of programmes presenting the ethnic minorities in various European states. Special emphasis will be put on the ethnic and cultural wealth and plurality in Europe.

The concept of this co-production project is a series of documentary programmes representing the single ethnic communities in Europe, as they are seen and understood by the authors from the different TV stations. The proposed series will focus on the issues of traditional/indigenous and possibly religious minorities; should there be interest, the series might be expanded into a long-trem project including the presentation of the single emigrant and other modern migration minorities in society.

The second phase ought to include a version for children and youth.

The single 14 or 28-minute programmes (2 versions) will represent a single minority as seen, understood and felt by a TV crew from a foreign country. No crew ought to shoot the programme in its own country. Each programme, as well as the series in general should present ethnic and cultural plurality and diversity as a normal feature and wealth that needs to be explored, understood, respected and developed. Their aim is to promote tolerance, understanding and co-operation in society based on recognition and respect for the differences and their equal and voluntary integration into pluralist society.

The co-production project is foreseen in the 2001 – 2002 initial phase of preparation with the participation of 10 to 15 stations. This would make it possible to broadcast the first programmes of the series in the season 2001 / 2002.
