Short Description
This biweekly cross-border programme reflects life on both sides of the Danish-German border. It was first broadcast in 1996 and has enjoyed great popularity with both the Danish and the German viewers ever since; the ratings in Denmark show a minimum market share of 60% and a viewing audience of 25-30%. The programme is broadcast partly in Danish and partly in German and subtitled accordingly. This is one of the reasons why it has contributed to a better mutual understanding of people living on both sides of the border - both literally and figuratively. Once a month NDR-TV and TV Syd are broadcasting a glance to the other side of the border (12-15 minutes at TV Syd and 9’30 minutes at NDR „Unser Land“. Hier-Her won the 1997 Prix CR in the category of cross-border programmes and won a special commendation in this category again in 1998.

Latest Development
There is a very intensive exchange and co-operation concerning topics and video-footage. Due to the co-operation with TV Syd, other contacts with the Danish neighbours have developed. Since December 1999 NDR also works with TV Ost (Interreg-promotion).
The priority of the reporting concentrates on everyday life – what is like like in our neighbourhood, news of the day and reports & live transmissions.
„German-Danish-Special“ was the title of a 30-minute-feature focusing on everyday-life on both sides of the border, which was produced in 2001 (the German island „Fehmam“ and the Danish island „Lolland“ in comparison).
From December 1999 until December 2000 NDR-TV and TV-Syd have produced more than 200 minutes of broadcasting.
During summer and autumn 2001 NDR-TV and TV Syd are planning further steps for a closer teamwork.
