Short Description
This project was initiated by two project heads for the PACTE and RECITE programmes of DG XVI of the European Commission in January 95. Co-produced with France 3 Aquitaine, it is a magazine of discovery and innovation dealing not only with rural, territorial or ecological aspects but also with social, environmental and economical development.
There are about 10 million hectares of forests along the Atlantic Coast from the region Aquitaine to Portugal inhabited by a multitude of different species.
The forest has many functions ranging from the production of wood or resin, the protection aspect (regulation of climate, preservation of the ground, etc..) to a social function (protection of the landscape, tourism) and economical development (creation of jobs, exploitation of natural resources).

Latest Development
Forest in Europe has received the approval for a support of the European Commission. For the first time, the countries of Southern Europe were to be considered – Portugal, Spain and France - but a second stage with other countries may be considered
The first magazine may be finished before the end of 2001 with the first topics on „Men and the Forests“ ; it is not a scientific approach of the forest, but a program with personal stories on the relations between people and their forest.
