Annual Conference 2017: Location, Host, Venues
- Details
The host of 2017 annual conference was RTP - Rádio e Televisão de Portugal, Portugal’s Public Service Broadcasting company.
RTP welcomed the conference delegates on the Azores archipelago, off the Portuguese coast, in Ponta Delgada, the capital city of the autonomous province of the Azores islands. This conference was the westernmost ever in the entire history of CIRCOM, with the Azores being the very last patch of land of the European continent on its west side, the archipelago located in the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean.
The Conference venues were Teatro Micaelense, where conference sessions were held, Teatro Ribeiragrandense, the venue of the Prix Gala Award ceremony and Science and Technology Park Nonagon, where mojo workshop was held prior to the conference.
RTP has been producing regional television and radio programmes since 1975 in the Azores and just finished the construction of a brand new building on the main island.
Prior to the conference RTP's CEO Gonçalo Reis announced that both his company and the local government of the Azores will do their best to welcome CIRCOM members for its 35th Annual Conference:
RTP and CIRCOM Regional have found the perfect fit to ensure good collaboration in preparation of the 35th annual conference of the association. Jose Lopes de Araújo, the director of Public, International Affairs and archive of RTP was appointed Vice President of CIRCOM Regional in May 2016. Mr Araujo is also a native of the Azores, as well as a former director of the local RTP Station.
