33rd Annual Conference - 21st - 22nd May 2015Dundalk, Ireland

MIND YOUR LANGUAGE

The CIRCOM Annual Conference in 2015 will be held in Ireland under the theme of "Mind Your Language". This will be a  theme with lots of different angles.

The responsibilities of broadcasters to minority and lesser used  languages will be a central aspect of the conference. Coupled with this will be an examination of the cost and the benefits involved to the broadcaster and the wider community. Also the threat to established languages will be examined as well as the role of sub titles versus voice over's for broadcasters.

Practitioners from across the globe will be involved in this unique event.

The 2015 conference was hosted in the town of Dundalk, located on the northeastern coast of Ireland close to the border with Northern Ireland. It is situated approximately an hour from both Dublin and Belfast.

The conference was jointly hosted by RTÉ - Ireland's national broadcaster and DkIT - Dundalk Institute of Technology, one of Ireland's foremost educational institutions with a purpose-built media school.

Dundalk from Irish Dún Dealgan, meaning "Dalgan's stronghold" is the county town of County Louth. Historically a town famous for manufacturing industries (brewing, textiles, shoe making and tobacco), Dundalk has now evolved into a hub for technology, electronics and engineering. The nearby Cooley Peninsula is a place of outstanding natural beauty. For tourist information please click here

RTE aqua33rd Annual Conference - 21st - 22nd May 2015Dundalk, Ireland

The 2015 CR Annual Conference will explore a wide range of topics, ranging from language extinction to growth and development. Responsibilities, cost and the role of technology in language development will all be covered.

But as the conference will be held in Ireland, the richness of music and dance will also be on the agenda. dkitAll who attend will be invited to share in the wealth of culture that makes Ireland a unique little island on the Western edge of Europe.

Conference 2015 is intended to be a unique event for all participants.

Since 1983 CIRCOM Regional has held the Annual conference in different countries and with different broadcasters every year. The aim of the conference is to have a yearly meeting where colleagues share their best ideas – everyone should leave the conference with at least two good ideas that can be used back home.

The scope is wide, but the focus is on strategic issues: content, technology, audience, online production and other broadcasting topics. The conference content is produced around a theme that is topical for the regional host and the industry. The sessions are produced by the members of CIRCOM Regional.

The high point of the conference is the Prix CIRCOM Gala where the best programmes in different genres are recognised and commended.

Our 41st Annual Conference will be held on 22nd and 23rd May 2025 in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain, hosted by 3Cat
